Lorraine F. Sherwin

Lorraine F. Sherwin, 93, of Butler, formerly of Karns City, went to be with the Lord Friday afternoon, March 10, 2023, at The Orchard in Butler.

Lorraine was born in East Brady on July 14, 1929. She was the daughter of the late LaVerne Joseph, Sr., and Nellie F. Jordan DeCorte.

She was a graduate of East Brady High School and was a loving homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She was a long-time member of Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church in Chicora. She enjoyed reading and trips to the library. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed riding her bicycle, the “Blue Streak”. In her earlier years, she had been employed as a butcher at the local grocery store in East Brady and worked as a secretary for Mr. Edward Dewey. Later, she was employed as a postal clerk in East Brady and Petrolia.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, Donald E. Sherwin, on April 14, 2020. The couple was married in East Brady on January 12, 1949.

Surviving are four children, Lori J. McKinnon and her husband, Bruce, of Queen Creek, AZ, Bradley P. Sherwin and his wife, Ani, of Columbus, NJ, Carrie Wilson and her husband, Blaine, of Karns City, and Joseph E. Sherwin and his wife, Amy, of Butler; six grandchildren, Christian Sherwin and Gabriel Sherwin of Columbus, NJ, Blaine Wilson IV and Brayden Wilson of Karns City, Luke Sherwin and Emma Sherwin of Butler; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, LaVerne Joseph DeCorte Jr., and a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2023, and from 12- 1 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2023.

A service outside of Mass will follow from the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Louis Pascazi, Parochial Vicar at St. Clare of Assisi Parish, officiating. The interment will be at St. Eusebius Cemetery, East Brady.
