Margaret Beverly Rossman King

Peg and Don, together again. Margaret Beverly Rossman King joined her husband Don in eternal rest on September 1, 2024, at the Orchards of Concordia.

She was born on June 7, 1929, to Archie and Gladys Rossman of Brady’s Bend.

Raised in Brady’s Bend, Peg remained a hometown girl all her life. In high school, she was a cheerleader, a “sweater girl,” and a great dancer. She graduated from East Brady High School in 1947. On February 7, 1948, after a “good payday”, Peg married Don. They celebrated by playing cards with Peg’s sister Winnie who married Don’s brother, Bob earlier that year.

The foursome spent many happy times together. Peg and Don were forever like “peas and carrots.” One was rarely seen without the other; they enjoyed dancing and playing cards, usually with family. They purchased a house and spent many happy hours waving to passersby from their porch swing.

For many years Peg (and sister Winnie) worked at Curran’s Market in East Brady. Peg was a member of Trinity Church in Brady’s Bend where over the years, she assisted with Vacation Bible School and baking for fundraisers. She and Don were social members of the American Legion, Post 488. Visiting relatives and their many friends was a favorite pastime.

Peg enjoyed baking and cooking and had a cardinal rule: you have to take one bite of everything before you can refuse it. (That rule was passed on to grandchildren and great-grands.) Cooking a roast on Sunday and sharing it with the whole family was a source of pride for Peg.

Peg is survived by her three children: daughter, Donna Kay Early and husband Sonny of Parker, son Raymond Edward (Ed) and wife Karen of New Kensington, and daughter Kathy Jean Thompson and husband Bob of Butler. Six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren complete the family.

Grandchildren include Jill Forshey and husband Trevor, Craig Summerville and fiancé, Jamie Snyder, Lindsay King Kloepping and husband Mark, Jordan King and wife Caitlin, Jason Thompson, and Melissa Thompson Mason.

Great-grandchildren include Liam, Nathan, and Samuel Heaton, Bailey Summerville, Noah and Lia Kloepping, Maris and Stellan King, and Jada, Natalie, and Julia Mason. Peg’s brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard, and Ressie King, also survive.

In addition to her beloved husband, Peg was predeceased by her sister, Genevieve (Winnie), four brothers-in-law, (William, Ralph, Robert, and Carl Dean), and four sisters-in-law (Dorothy Hillwig Mortimer, Betty Schrecengost King, Dorothy Wiles King, and Shirley Shea King).

The family would like to thank the staff of The Orchards for their kind and compassionate care of Peg.

Friends of Margaret “Peg” King will be received from 10:00 AM till the time of funeral services at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Trinity Church Brady Bend with Rev. Pete Sapp officiating.

Don and Peg will be laid to rest together in Oak Grove Cemetery, Sugarcreek Twp.

Arrangements are under the direction of Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., East Brady.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Church, 887 PA-68, East Brady, PA 16028.
