Margaret Bridenbaugh


Margaret Bridenbaugh, most recently of San Antonio, TX, died at 9:20 PM on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Pine Valley Assisted Living in Arnold, MO.

Mrs. Bridenbaugh was born on February 14, 1947, in Butler, PA.  She was the daughter of William F. Burns, Jr. and Agnes M. Burns (Hahn). She was married to the late William H. Bridenbaugh II, also of Butler, on October 24, 1967.

She was of the Catholic faith.

Margaret graduated from Butler (PA) High School in 1965, ultimately departing nursing school when her son William was born.  Over several decades, Margaret went to night school. In 1995, Margaret graduated from DeVry bachelor’s degree in Business Operations.  

Margaret and her family lived in St. Louis, MO, from 1970 to 1993, when they moved to Chicago, IL. Then moved to Austin, TX in 1995, then to San Antonio, TX, in 2007.

Margaret’s careers were varied. She worked in book publishing, laying out medical textbooks. As technology evolved, her skill sets evolved. She advanced into graphic design and even designed the seat-back emergency card for American Eagle in the early 90s. After graduating from DeVry, Margaret went on to have a brief but active career in logistics with Applied Materials, a microchip manufacturer, in Austin, TX.

With her husband William II, Margaret loved sailing, and later, hiking. She also loved traveling, visiting places such as Egypt, Greece, Turkey, Italy, and Hawaii. Later in life, she loved cruising. While residing in Texas, Margaret became a Master Gardner.  

Margaret fought a brave and bitter battle with Parkinson’s and Pulmonary Fibrosis. In the end, though she suffered from advanced dementia, she never forgot her family.  She knew her condition and fought until the end.

Margaret is survived by her son, William H. Bridenbaugh III, niece, Victoria Burns-Lewis and her husband David and great-niece, Katharine, nephew, Shawn Burns, sister-in-law Joyce Rivers-Fritch, sister-in-law, Becky Stevens and husband Tom, nephew, Greg and niece, Cathy (Pierce), and 6 great nieces and nephews between them (Foster, Renna, Adam, Siena, Ryan, Sarah).

She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Bridenbaugh II, parents, Agnes and Bill Burns, parents-in-law, William H. Bridenbaugh I and Ethel M. Bridenbaugh, and brothers, Michael O. Burns and William Patrick Burns.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday. A service outside of Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Very Rev. V. David Fiodori, E.V., pastor of Beloved Disciple Parish, Church of St. Michael The Archangel, officiating. The interment will be in Crawford Memorial Cemetery, Emlenton.
