Marilou Jean Von Gunden, 63, of Painesville, Ohio, passed away at Hillcrest Hospital, part of the Cleveland Clinic, on July 18, 2026, after a brief illness surrounded by loved ones.
She was born in Butler on February 20, 1963, and was the daughter of Robert L. Pennington and the late Velma Ruth Hillwig Pennington.
She was a graduate of Clarion University and was a successful sales representative in the Pharmaceutical Industry for over 40 years. She loved traveling and has been all over Europe and has made it to 44 states here in America. She was a member of the Eastern Star. In her younger years, she was involved in the Girl Scouts. A talented organist, she played for many years at her church. Marilou continued to find great joy in music and was a longtime season ticket holder of the Cleveland Orchestra and also enjoyed having season tickets to the Cleveland Guardians (Indians). On her 60th birthday, she attended the Kentucky Derby. Most of all, Marilou loved skiing. She enjoyed skiing from North Dakota to Peak-N-Peak in New York.
She is survived by her father, Robert L. Pennington of Bruin, and his companion, Carol Karpinski. Her brother, Robert L. (Beth) Pennington of Bruin. A sister, Kathy (Thomas) Wagner of Buffalo, NY. Her nieces, Rebecca Pennington and Caitlin Wagner. A nephew, TJ Wagner. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her mother, Velma, she was preceded in death by her nephew, Alex Pennington.
Friends will be received at Buzard Funeral Home in Parker (201 S. Wayne) on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 2-4 & 6- 8 p.m. The Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the Martinsburg Church of Bruin. The interment will be held at Annisville Cemetery.
