Mary A. Cassese


Mary A. Cassese, 105, of the Waters of Wexford Assisted Living and Memory Care facility, Warrendale, PA, formerly of Brady’s Bend, PA, died Thursday at the Waters of Wexford.

Born August 11, 1918, in the Little Italy section of New York, NY, she was the daughter of Vito and Maria G. (Mignemi) Cassese.

At the age of 3, Mary’s family moved to Brady’s Bend and she graduated from East Brady High School in 1937. Mary had a long and varied career with many companies in PA and OH with her last job being with General Electric in Cleveland, OH. She retired from General Electric in 1981 and moved back to her beloved Brady’s Bend, PA. In 2018, Mary moved to the Waters of Wexford where she lived the remainder of her life in happiness and peace.

Mary was the current oldest member of the St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Brady’s Bend, PA. Mary was also a member of the Eagles Club, SNPJ Lodge 782 in Glenshaw, PA and was a founding member of the Brady’s Bend Senior Center where she volunteered for over 26 years as well as organized many bus trips for that group. Mary loved to travel and had traveled extensively throughout her life in North America, Europe, the South Pacific and Asia. She was also an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Surviving is her nephew David M. Cassesse (Donna) and great niece Shelby Cassesse Goehring (Thomas) and numerous other beloved nieces, nephews, great and great, great nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and was the last remaining sibling of six brothers (John M. Oddo Sr., Antonio, John, Vincenzo, Salvadore and Michael Cassese and one sister (Carmella Cassese Bevcich).

On behalf of Mary, the family would like to thank everyone at the Waters of Wexford for all the care, love and Grace she received while living there. The family would also like to thank the Hospice Staff of AHN who helped bring her so much comfort for so long. You all were amazing to her and she loved you all.

Friends of Mary A. Cassese will be received from 4:00-7:00 PM Monday, May 6, 2024 at Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. 707 Kellys Way, East Brady, PA 16028.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at St. Patrick Church, Bradys Bend with Rev. Arnel Tadeo officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

The family of Mary A. Cassese asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 915 State Route 68, East Brady, PA 16028
