Mary Anna Karnes

Mary Anna Karnes, 88, of Emlenton, (Mariasville), passed away in the company of her family late Friday evening, May 24, 2024, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Mary Anna was born in Warren, Ohio on December 3, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Floyd and Mina Eakman.

  She enjoyed square dancing, going out for pizza and ice cream, and the company of her family. She had been employed at Clarview Nursing Home and Allegheny Manor.

  "Mary Ann" was preceded in death by her husband, R. Burdette Karnes, whom she married in Alum Rock on February 8, 1956. Mr. Karnes passed away on November 13, 2019.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Smith, and her husband Larry, of Emlenton, her son, Jeffrey A. Karnes and his friend, Jackie Jones, of Emlenton; a stepson, Kevin Brown of Huey; her grandchildren, Jeb Karns and his wife, Tonya, Teri Karnes (Chris Jack), Nicholas Smith and his wife, Mindy, Shane Smith, (Tasha Simmons) Malinda Myers and her husband Chris; her great-grandchildren, Hayden and Lillian Smith, Abigail Myers, Audrianna and Gabriel Jack; her brother, Sam Eakman and his wife, Rosie of Harrisville, sister-in-law Mary Eakman as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Clark Karnes, a daughter-in-law, Gina Karnes, her sister, and two brothers, Donna, Bill, and Bob.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton, from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday. A funeral service will follow from the funeral home at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Chris Lewis, pastor of Salem Reformed Church of Lamartine, officiating. The interment will be in the Emlenton Cemetery.
