HARRISBURG – Rep. Marci Mustello (R-Butler) today announced that 13 fire, rescue and emergency medical services (EMS) companies within the 11th Legislative District have been awarded state grants from the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC).
“These companies, and especially the first responders who dedicate their personal time to providing emergency services, are a critical component of our community,” said Mustello. “As they rely heavily on community support for funding, I am pleased that the Commonwealth can offer these grants that recognize their high-standard of operations while providing a much-needed budgetary boost.”
The following fire, rescue and EMS companies in the 11th District received grants:
· Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company - $15,201.
· Butler Ambulance Service (EMS) - $15,000.
· Butler City Fire Department - $16,174.
· Butler Township Volunteer Fire District - $42,563.
· Chicora Community Hose and Relief Association (EMS) - $15,000.
· Chicora Community Hose and Relief Association - $15,979.
· East Butler Volunteer Fire Department - $13,451.
· East Butler Volunteer Fire Department (EMS) - $15,000.
· Karns City Regional Ambulance Service (EMS) - $15,000.
· Oakland Township Oneida Valley Volunteer Fire Company - $14,229.
· Sarver Volunteer Fire Company - $15,396.
· Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company - $15,396.
· Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company (EMS) - $9,936.
Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reduction of existing debt.
All companies that apply and meet requirements/standards outlined by OSFC receive funding. Companies must file an executed grant agreement with OFSC by July 1 to receive their grants.
All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, and not General Fund tax revenue.
