Rev. Harry W. Waldroup


Rev. Harry W. Waldroup, 89, of Karns City, went to be with the Lord Friday evening, July 7, 2023, at the home of his son while surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Harry was born in Titusville on March 14, 1934. He was the son of the late Wayne Chesterfield and Genevieve Say Waldroup

He was a 1952 graduate of Fairview Twp. Karns City High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. Harry was a long-time member of the Crisswell Bible Baptist Church near Brady’s Bend.

In his earlier years, Harry pastored the Christ Gospel Church in Karns City and a baptist church near Eau Claire. He was well-known as a pulpit supply pastor at many area churches, always ready to talk to anyone about Jesus. He had been employed for more than 44 years at Penreco in Karns City and retired in 1996. Harry enjoyed collecting items of all kinds, carpentry, and was well-known among his family and friends as a jack of all trades. Over the years, Harry developed the interests of his children, which were of the upmost importance.

Harry is survived by his wife, Emma J. Elliott Waldroup, whom he married in Butler on August 25, 1956. Also surviving are eight children and their spouses, James and Ginny Walker, Robin and Ronald Blake, Larry and Brenda Walker, Thomas and Linda Waldroup, Barbara Matson, Brenda Atherton, Donald and Merritt Waldroup, and Shawn and Sheila Waldroup; seventeen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Waldroup and his wife, Cindy, of East Brady; a sister, Mary Stowe and her husband, Chuck, of Parker; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Waldroup of Chicora, as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Frank Waldroup and a son-in-law, Jerry Matson.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2023, and on Friday, July 14, 2023, from 10 – 11 a.m. at the Crisswell Bible Baptist Church, 127 Crisswell Rd., Karns City, where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Pastor Paul DeBacco, church pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Hillview Cemetery in the Village of Kepple’s Corners. Military honors will be accorded by members of the Chicora and Brady’s Bend American Legion Posts at 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church.
