Ruthanne Whitling Hartzell, 75, of St. Petersburg, Clarion County, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, June 3, 2025, while surrounded by her loving family at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Ruthanne was born in Clarion on June 3, 1950. She was the daughter of the late Russell and Mary McKaern Whitling. She was a 1968 graduate of Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School in Foxburg.
In her earlier years, she was employed at the W.A. Moyer Level Works in Parker and later enjoyed babysitting for family and neighbors. She enjoyed the company of her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids, and looked forward to family shopping trips.
She is survived by two children, Holly A. Schnell and her husband, Eric, of Parker, and Ryan D. Hartzell and his wife, Crystal, of Butler. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Alley Bowser and her companion, Joe, of Parker, Dillon J. Bowser and his companion, Billie Jo, of Chicora, Raven Hartzell, Ethan Kummer, Haley Hartzell, and Tristan Hartzell; four great-grandchildren, Jace McGarrity, Anna Bowser, Jaxon McGarrity, and Rhett Bowser; a sister, Judy Russell and her husband, Paul, of St. Petersburg; a brother, Dennis Whitling of Strattanville, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 802 Grove St., St. Petersburg, from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 202. Rev. Dan Myers, a retired Methodist pastor, will officiate at a private funeral service. The interment will be beside her mother at Zion Union Cemetery in Emlenton.
