The 2025 Chicora Memorial Day Program/Parade

Hundreds gathered together to celebrate, and honor our fallen soldiers. This is what small town America is all about.
Thanks to the efforts of many involved, the annual Memorial Day program and parade held on May 26, 2025 reflected community spirit and honored those who gave their lives defending our freedoms.
The annual Memorial Day program is sponsored by the Chicora Borough, Dierken Ritzert, American Legion Post 642, Chicora Independent Hose Company, Chicora Moose and Lodge 962.
Serving as Grand Marshal of the parade at the age of 102, was veteran Dick Craig.
Participating in the Memorial Day Program were Boy Scout Troop 217, the Karns City High School marching band, the American Legion Post 642 Firing Squad as well as other members of the community.
The Presentation of the Memorial Wreath was presented by Dick Craig with the Honor Guard.
Dean Noechal gave the Memorial Address.
The program included the reading of deceased veterans of the past year by Butler County Veteran of the Year (2016-2017), Ron Huff.
The introduction of the Legion of the Year was presented by Bruce Campbell and awarded to Ray Boyles.
The American Legion 8th grade awards were presented by Fred Callihan. The male award winner was Zachary Joseph Neal, son of Marlene and Joseph Neal. The female award winner went to Alixis Lee Rottman, daughter of Catherine and Daniel Rottman.
Jim Campbell served as Master of Ceremonies.
