The Clarion County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) convened for its first meeting for Fall 2025, at Trinity Point Church of God. Regent Starla Purinton welcomed members and guests as the chapter looked ahead to a full schedule of projects and events to round out the year. Highlights for the coming months include:
·Honoring Revolutionary War Soldiers – Members are working to update records for approximately 30 Revolutionary War soldiers buried in Clarion County. All known graves have been cleaned, and updated information will be submitted to the DAR Marker and Grave Location Index.
·America250 Ancestor Garden – Plans are underway for a commemorative garden at the Clarion County Historical Society to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary. A bronze plaque has been ordered, bricks are available for engraving, and landscaping will be completed in spring 2026.
·Homes for the Troops – Regent Purinton’s chosen project supports a nonprofit that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes for severely injured post-9/11 veterans, honoring their service with stability and independence.
·Community Involvement – The chapter will participate will host a table at Clarion’s Autumn Leaf Festival on October 24, 2025. The America250 mobile unit will also make an appearance during the festival, offering visitors a chance to share reflections ahead of the nation’s semiquincentennial.
·Patriotism in Action – Members are also joining DAR’s “Random Acts of Kindness” initiative throughout October, with service hours and stories being collected for community recognition.
Membership in DAR is open to women 18 and older. Women interested in getting involved in a project, learning more, or beginning the application process are encouraged to contact Regent Starla Purinton for details at slp51@comcast.net.
