Did you know that New Bethlehem had a small Jewish community before World War II? The Redbank Valley Historical Society and the Rauh Jewish Archives at the Heinz History Center have been partnering on research to better document the Harris, Krouse, Krutzel and Kempner families, their contributions locally, and their ties throughout the region.
Eric Lidji, director of the Rauh Jewish Archives at the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, will present this local Jewish history. Lidji oversees its website The Jewish Encyclopedia of Western Pennsylvania and manages the Small Town Jewish History Project, which documents Jewish life in small towns throughout Western Pennsylvania.
The program will be presented on Monday, April 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the History Center, 301 Broad Street, New Bethlehem. Admission is free. Donations to support the society are welcomed.
Parking is available on Broad Street or the municipal parking lot behind the building.
