The Plaza Restaurant Crowns Rex Michaels the Baked Bean Champion
For the past two years at the Emlenton Plaza Restaurant’s Annual Trucker Appreciation Day, there has been a Baked Bean cooking contest between Rex Michaels and Carol Burns, Vice President of Quadland Corp. of the Emlenton Truck Plaza. And, for two years in a row, Rex has come out on the winner. Another Blue Ribbon for Rex.
Every year the Plaza says, “Thank You”, to the truck drivers, and loyal customers, who support the Plaza, with a free meal that includes BBQ chicken, hot dogs, mac salad, “baked beans”, that you have to vote on, drinks and other goodies.
There is also a vendor or two. This year Hunter Truck Sales and Kenworth of Clintonville, were on hand.
Some customers took their meals inside but most ate outside under canopies and enjoyed the atmosphere and music.
The event was held on September 15th from 10 AM to 6 PM. Catered by the now famous, Rex Michaels.
