Thomas J. Cooper

Thomas J. Cooper, 77, of Parker, PA, passed away early Saturday morning, August 8, 2026, at his home after a brief illness.

Born in Parker on November 11, 1948, he was the son of the late Arthur “Buck” and Dorothy Cratty Cooper.

Tom was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam as a Field Artillery Cannoneer. He was a proud veteran and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 7073 in Parker.

Tom worked for 10 years at the former Pullman Standard in Butler before its closing. He later served the City of Parker for 30+ years in the Maintenance Department. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, being outdoors, and gardening. His family was the most important aspect of his life, and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his three children: Thomas R. (Shawna) Cooper of Parker; Kevin J. (Alisha) Cooper of Butler; Erin K-G-C. (Curtis) Altman of Parker. Grandchildren: Taylor (Trevor) Corle; Ryan, Zachary, Abigail, and Avery Cooper; Alexia and Logan Altman. Great-grandchild, Cooper Corle. Two sisters: Sandra Baker and Patty Merwin. Two brothers: Jim Cooper and Dave (Terrie) Cooper.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Susan J. Gardner Cooper, who passed on May 23, 2010, and his twin sister, Nancy Wilk.

Friends will be received at Buzard Funeral Home in Parker on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 5-8 pm. Military Honors will be held at 5 pm. Parker City VFD tribute will begin at 8 pm, followed by the Funeral service. Private Interment will be held in Parker Presbyterian Cemetery.
