Velma Grace Stewart, 92, of Shippenville Health Care Center, formerly of Perry Township, Parker, PA, passed away on Sunday, June 15, at the health center due to natural causes.
Born on April 12, 1933, in Perry Township, Clarion County, she was the daughter of the late Peter Burton and Bernice May Bashline Peters.
She was married on December 29, 1950, to Richard L. Stewart, who died on March 9, 2013.Velma was a longtime member of the Concord Presbyterian Church, where, at the time of her passing, she was the oldest church member. She was a member of the Ladies Missionary Society. In her lifetime, she was employed by the former O-I Glass Containers Corp. of Clarion, former Moyer Level Works of Parker, and the Parker and Perry Township School Cafeteria. She had been an active participant in the Ladies Auxiliary of Perry Township VFD. She was the Noble Grand of the former Ladies Rebekah of West Freedom, as well as a member of the Red Hat Society of Foxburg.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen Defibaugh and Donna Pryor, both of Parker. Three grandchildren: Erin (Earl) Barlett, Andrew Lee (Brittany Klingensmith) Pryor, and Nicholas Alan Pryor. Great Grandchild Grace Elizabeth Barlett. Numerous nieces and nephews and special nephews Patrick (Bert) and Scott Sheffer.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Earl Peters, and sisters, Louise Leary and Treva Fair. Her two son-in-laws, Alan Pryor in 2010 and Gary Defibaugh in 2020.
Friends will received at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home in Parker (201 S. Wayne St.) on Wednesday, June 18, from 6-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Concord Presbyterian Church near Parker. The interment will follow at the Concord Cemetery.
