William J. “Bill” Hile, Jr., 65, of East Brady, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes late Sunday afternoon, October 26, 2025, at his home.
William was born in Butler on January 10, 1960. He was the son of the late William J. Hile, Sr. and the late Lucy Hetrick Hile Dollar.
As a youth, Bill attended the Chicora United Methodist Church. He was a 1978 graduate of Karns City Area High School. Affectionately “Bundy” to his many friends, Bill enjoyed relaxing in his garage and talking with those who might stop by, Steeler parties, going out to breakfast, good times at area taverns singing karaoke, and boating with friends. Bill looked forward to family gatherings, especially picnics at the river, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. In his early years, he enjoyed spending summers at Silverside Pool and at his Grandma Jo’s on Green Street, and deer hunting with his Dad, Grandpap and Uncle Barry. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and NASCAR fan. Most recently, he could be seen driving his golf cart around East Brady. He was a social member of the American Legion Post in Brady’s Bend and belonged to the Sons of the American Legion. Bill was very patriotic and had a special place in his heart for our nation’s veterans and first responders.
In his early years, he worked for Dan Shaner laying carpet and was later employed by Glenn Anderson at The Colonial Inn in Chicora. Bill retired from the Butler County Prison following nearly 30 years of service as a corrections officer. Following his retirement, Bill was proud to work for his brother Chris at the funeral homes in Chicora and Karns City.
Surviving is a brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Terri Hile of Emlenton; two nephews, Trevor M. Hile and his wife, Sarah, of Emlenton and Aaron William Hile and his wife, Dani, of Kennerdell; a great niece and three great nephews, Gwendolyn, Greyson, Benjamin, and William; his longtime good friend, Kathy Baker of Chicora, as well as a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many, many good friends.
