Allegheny River Trail in Clarion County, Erie to Pittsburgh Trail, Oil Region Alliance, Allegheny Valley Trail Association and North Country Trail cordially invites the public to help celebrate major progress on June 7, National Trails Day. The refurbishment of the Ritchey Run Bridge, which is the trailhead access to the Emlenton - Foxburg Gap in the Erie to Pittsburgh Trail, has been completed. We are grateful for the enthusiastic support from local, state, and federal officials who are all invited.
A new ADA access ramp has been constructed to convey bike traffic from River Rd up to the old railroad line, which is the new bike trail. The first 700’ of trail closing the gap has been cleared and paved. Come see what community support, volunteer hours and government aid can accomplish. We are preparing bid documents on paving the first mile going north from Foxburg and we are negotiating the last few easement agreements over the next 2 miles. There are hazards and you ride at your own risk.
The gathering begins at 1:00 pm on Sat June 7 at the Ritchey Run Trailhead. There are only 20 parking spaces at the trailhead so be prepared to park along local streets and walk in. Better yet, bring your bike and ride in. Experience the new trail or ride north out of Emlenton to as far as Titusville. Each trail group will have tables with information and volunteer and donor opportunities. There will be food for purchase by “That Place Eatery”, live music and a porta-john on site. Consider bringing a chair.
There will be a short program at 2:00 to share our stories and acknowledge supporters. Celebration ends at 4:00. So, let’s get together and meet some new friends who appreciate the joys of riding and walking our most beautiful trails in the nation!
