A-C Valley Sr. Youth Football Team Earns Way to Super Bowl

A lot has transpired since the start of the season for the A-C Valley Senior Youth Football team. Without a home field, the young Falcons settled their home field turf at both Union and Keystone for home games. Practice sometimes meant heading to the old Legion baseball field in Foxburg. Adversity just may have been their catalyst and echoed their pre-game hype, “Who’s got my back”.

In fact, fourteen weeks, fifty six practices and eight games later the Sr. Youth Football team ended the regular season with a respectable 6-2 record. The Falcons only losses would be a 22-6 loss to a strong Armstrong team and a heartbreaking 14-6 loss to Grove City.

Playing in a division full of parity (three teams finished 6-2), the young Falcons entered the playoffs as the number three seed. (C-L, Karns City, A-C Valley, Amrstrong, Slippery Rock and Grove City). In the regular season the defense and offense worked in unison as they outscored their opponents by 164 points. (256-92). In the regular season the A-C defense would card (4) shutouts and allowing just 4 (1) score games.

The first round the Falcons faced a balanced Grove City squad that had defeated the Falcons 14-6 in the regular season. A-C Valley would use the opening round as a springboard by shutting out Grove City (30-0) and advance to the second round against Karns City, a team they had beaten in a thrilling overtime game just weeks prior.

In a game which A-C Valley Offensive Coordinator, Kip Babcock called a “chess game” on the offensive side of the ball, featured two stingy defenses that would not bend. However, a late touchdown by A-C Valley proved to be the difference as the Falcons held on to advance to the Super Bowl with a 6-0 win. (Complete Super Bowl story on A-1).

Members of the A-C Valley Sr. Team earned All-Star selections and played in the All-Star East vs. West game this past Saturday at Karns City High School. Those players selected included: QB/LB  Jase Murray, RB/CB Ike Ielase, RB/LB Landon Eiler, TE/DE  Kolson Babcock , C/NT Noah Switzer.

Jacob Long of A-C Valley was chosen to sing the National Anthem at the All-Star game and was given an ABC Youth Football All-Star jersey.
