East Brady Area Development Corporation Announces 2026 Beautification Awards

The East Brady Area Development Corporation’s (EBADC) annual Beautification Contest wrapped up on June 24th when two impartial judges reviewed the nominations submitted by area residents. The judges were Lee Ann Ishman, member of the Garden Club of Clarion County, and Sharon De Andrea, Community Development Manager for CCEDC (Clarion County Economic Development Corporation). Judges rated nominees on curb appeal, maintenance, planning and creativity. The winners received a “Beautification Awardee” yard sign with their name on it, an East Brady mug, a certificate and a lifetime membership to EBADC. Honorable mentions received a congratulatory letter and a window decal noting their efforts.
With many nomination entries this year, the judging was extra difficult. There was a tie for winners in the residential category. Winners are Sheila Markel, of Brady’s Bend and Jim Zellefrow, of East Brady. Both properties are designed and maintained by the owners with much attention to detail. Honorable mentions go to Susan and Charlie Buechele, Steve and Petula King, Preston and Bria Saxton and Dan and Megan Slaugenhaup, of East Brady and Anthony Pezzuti and Dane Potts from Brady’s Bend.
The winner in the Business/Church/Public Property category is Allegheny Hills Retirement Residence. AHRR consistently pays attention to a display of colorful plants that add to its curb appeal. An Honorable mention goes to The East Brady First Presbyterian Church.
All are welcome to attend the next monthly meeting of EBADC held at the Arnold Beabout Community Center, room 14, in East Brady at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, July 28th. Plans for several new events and program are in the works.
