Albert Leroy Claypoole, Sr.

Albert Leroy “Snake” Claypoole, Sr., 78, of East Brady, formerly of Karns City, passed away peacefully at his home, in the company of his family, late Thursday evening, September 10, 2026.
Albert was born in Butler on March 30, 1948. He was the son of the late Gilbert Leroy and Ruth V. Bastian Claypoole Bullman.
He attended school in Grove City. Leroy enjoyed hunting with his son Carl, attending drag races, the company of his dog “Parish”, and a cold beer with family and friends. He had been employed throughout his life at various coal mines, Clarion Mobile Homes and the Petrolia Water Authority.
He is survived by nine children: Virginia D. Courtney and her husband Robert “Bob: of Selman, OK; Albert L. Claypoole, Jr. of Butler; Carl E. Claypoole of Saltsburg; Cinnamon A. Hainley of Prospect; Timothy J. Claypoole of Karns City; John L. McClure of Butler; Terry Bowser of Mercer; Brandy M. Williams of Slippery Rock; Robyn R. Kellington of Butler; longtime companion Jennifer “Jen” Vlassich of Karns City; numerous grandchildren and great -grandchildren; three brothers: Ralph Claypoole and his wife Faye of Petrolia; Gene Claypoole and his wife Marsha of Fenelton; Paul Claypoole of Butler, and a sister, Linda Atwell and her companion Kevin Campbell of Grove City; his former wife Patricia D. Miller Claypoole, of Karns City; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Albert Andrew Claypoole and John Bowser; a son-in-law, Scott Hainley, and a brother, Carl R. Claypoole.
Friends and family will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2026. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Matthew Perkins, pastor of New Beginnings Methodist Church of Butler, officiating.
Interment will be in Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.
