One year has passed since Bobby went to live in his eternal home, and if we’re being brutally honest, we haven’t been the same since. While the world keeps spinning, there is a profound missing piece that no amount of time can fill.
We miss the simple things that used to be the fabric of our days—seeing him anchored in his recliner when we walk through the door, the smell of his famous biscuits and gravy on a slow morning, and the gentle rhythm of him rocking all of his babies to sleep.
He was more than just a pillar of our family; he was our compass. Whether he was delivering a powerful message behind the pulpit or offering quiet wisdom from his chair in the living room, his words always helped us navigate this beautiful life. We miss those random phone calls, his steady guidance, and the way he lived his life as a wonderful husband, dad, PopPop, friend, and Pastor.
As we learn to live with our grief, we know he would be proud of the way we have grown closer as a family, supported each other in the extremely hard times, and continued to find joy in the midst of our sadness. Most importantly, we will continue to seek and serve the Lord, which is the legacy he desired more than anything.
We’re navigating this life because we have to, but we’re doing it with heavy hearts that miss him more than words can say. However, we find peace in the assurance that his first year in heaven was glorious.
