E. Jane Angert


E. Jane Angert, 84, of Center Drive, Chicora, Oakland Twp., a retired Butler Area School District elementary teacher, passed away Monday morning, March 20, 2023, at New Haven Court in Butler.

Jane was born in Greece City, Concord Twp., on January 26, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Carl and Eleanor Ball Headland.

She was a graduate of Butler High School and earned a B.S. in elementary education from Slippery Rock State College. Mrs. Angert was a second-grade teacher at Oakland Twp. Elementary School for 35 years where she was well-respected among the school’s staff, students, and parents. She was a long-time active member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in The Village of North Oakland where she was a member of the Christian Mothers and most especially enjoyed helping make chocolate candy for the group’s fundraisers. She enjoyed quilting, attending auctions with her husband, and traveling out west.

She is survived by her husband, Donald L. Angert, whom she married at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church on April 8, 1961. Also surviving is a daughter, Karla M. Angert-McEachin, and her husband, Paul, of West Sunbury; two grandchildren, Luke McEachin, a student at Duquesne University, and Madeline McEachin of Brooklyn, New York; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert Angert of Karns City, Kenneth Angert and his wife, Debbie, of Chicora, Jane DeBacco and her husband, Ronald, of East Brady, and Susan Double and her husband, Dennis, of Chicora, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, St. Clare of Assisi Parish, 864 Chicora Rd., Chicora, with the Rev. Matt McClain, church pastor, officiating. The interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, North Oakland.
