Emanuel “Cy” Benn

Emanuel “Cy” Benn, age 90, formerly of Rimersburg, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Clarion Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, where he was residing.

He was born on October 10, 1935, in Kittanning. Cy was the last surviving sibling among the children of the late Harry L. and Melinda “Jenny” Simmers Benn.

He attended Union High School before enlisting in the United States Navy. Cy proudly served on the Aircraft Carrier Valley Forge on active duty from 1953 to 1957 during the Korean Conflict, where he also served as a barber. He continued serving in the Navy reserves until he was honorably discharged in 1959.

After spying Sarah Wingard picking cherries high in a tree in Northeast, PA, one day, they married on July 2, 1960, and together, they shared over 65 wonderful years. Cy worked as a custodian for Clarion University, retiring after 24 years.

He was a member of the Wildcat Wesleyan Methodist Church and Rimersburg American Legion Post #454. Cy enjoyed watching western movies and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was an enthusiastic collector of Elvis Presley memorabilia and loved listening to his music as well as other old-time country music. Cy also enjoyed traveling and exploring new places.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his son, Rob Harrell, and his two children, two great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild of Greenville, NC; his daughter, Jacqueline Seigworth, and her husband, Greg, of Lancaster; and two grandchildren, Kendall Seigworth and her fiancé, Tosh, of Montoursville, and Stephen Yonushonis of Pittsburgh.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Melanie Benn Brown; and his siblings, Edward Englert, Arnold Hilliard, Junior Englert, Henry Englert, Sadie Englert, Margaret Asel, and Bessie Gadley.

Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion, where Military Honors will be accorded at 12:15 p.m. by the VFW Post #7132 and American Legion Post #454 of Rimersburg. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. with Worship Leader Gina DeLair presiding. The interment will take place at the Providence Cemetery in Knox.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Cy’s honor to Charitable Deeds, 3009 Knight Town Road, Shippenville, PA 16254.
