George Patrick Guthrie, Jr, 82, of Ocala, FL passed away on April 27, 2023, at the Brandley Hospice House in Summerfield, FL. He was surrounded by his loving family.
George was born in Foxburg, PA to George Patrick Guthrie, Sr. and Helen Louise Guthrie of Emlenton, PA.
George joined the Army in March of 1958. He served in Vietnam from June 1965 – March 12, 1966, at which time he left the Army. In October 1967 he joined the Air Force where he remained until his retirement on October 31, 1979.
On April 11, 1960, George married Helen Eileen Sherman, daughter of Frank and Mabel Sherman of RD #3 Emlenton, PA. They had four children together and in 1989 they moved to Ocala, FL.
George was predeceased by his loving wife, Helen, both of his parents, and his mother and father-in-law. He is survived by his four children Vickie Guthrie, Kelly (Keli) Guthrie Phillips (Rodney), Michael Guthrie (Kat), all of Ocala, FL and Brenda Guthrie Beissel (Jimmy) of Enola, PA, 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters; Pat Guthrie Hartman of Bath, NY, Jeanne Guthrie Shirey of Emlenton, PA and 2 brothers; John Guthrie of Austin Town, OH and Bob Guthrie of Emlenton, PA.
George was interred at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
He is loved and dearly missed by his family.
