Join Chuck Corbett and Cindy Simonton, on Saturday, July 4th, as they proudly open the doors to their new antique gun museum. This special event honors America’s upcoming 250th anniversary — the perfect way to celebrate Independence Day with history, patriotism, and community spirit.

Step inside and explore Chuck’s lifelong collection of remarkable antique firearms and artifacts. You’ll discover stunning rifles and guns from the early 1800s to 1900s, including some from the Civil War, along with many other fascinating historical treasures.

Among the highlights is a rare photograph of John Wilkes Booth, which Chuck is working to verify. Booth spent significant time in nearby Franklin (Venango County) in 1864, where he was involved in the oil business and was well-liked by locals for his entertaining dramatic readings. He also performed nearby in Meadville, Pennsylvania, around August 13, 1864.

Another standout piece is a beautifully crafted rifle made by Nicholas Shannefelt, a skilled gunsmith who settled his family near New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in 1835. This fine rifle, made between 1845 and 1850, features a unique brass storage compartment in the stock for holding cloth patches. The Shannefelt family story is equally rich — several of Nicholas’s sons became prominent Baptist ministers, and the family contributed greatly to the local community and the Leatherwood Church.

Then there is the Burnside Carbine rifle, serial number 251. This 54 caliber Burnside carbine was designed and patented by Civil War General, Ambrose E. Burnside. This weapon was manufactured in Rhode Island by the Bristol Firearms Company and later, its successor, the Burnside Rifle Company, from about 1857 to 1865. Burnside no. 251, one of the early models is in now on display in Chuck’s collection.

Chuck will be available to answer all your questions. There is no fee to attend the grand opening.
