James H. Parkes, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 25, 2023.
James was born at home in Bridgeville, PA, on May 7, 1933. He was the son of James and Flora Parkes who are deceased.
Jim graduated from South Fayette High School in 1951. He married Sarah E. (McNutt) Parkes on February 28, 1961 and she preceded him in death on April 21, 2023.
Jim worked as a mechanic for many years (1951-1995). He retired from Bracken Construction in 1995.
Jim enjoyed hunting and being outdoors. He was musically inclined and played his fiddle at church as well as entertaining folks in the nursing homes. He liked to do word search puzzles and play Yahtzee with his wife, Sarah.
He was a loving and caring father to: Cindy Smathers and her husband, Jeff, James M. Parkes and his wife Shelly, Timothy Parkes and his wife Carolyn and David Parkes and his wife Deborah; and his nine grandchildren, Kory Smathers, Tiff Sturgeon and her husband Spencer, Caleb Parkes, Rachael Parkes, Emilee Parkes, Keri Rapp and her husband Casey, Isaac Parkes, Deanna Parkes and Dalina Parkes. Jim is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by his sibling Mildred Morgan.
No service, visitation or memorial service will be held per the request of the deceased.
Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home in Clarion.
