Jamie Alyssa (Ahrens) Nevel, 44, of Emlenton, PA, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025 leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness that will never be forgotten.
Born in Oil City, Pennsylvania, on October 5, 1980, Jamie grew up with a heart full of compassion and a spirit full of life. She graduated from Cranberry High School in 1999, where she played basketball and softball and showed horses through 4-H — early signs of her high energy, commitment, and love for animals that would define so much of her life. She went on to earn degrees from Clarion University and Slippery Rock University, preparing her for a life devoted to caring for others.
Jamie was truly a people person — warm, giving, and endlessly selfless. She had a gift for connecting with everyone she met and would do anything for anyone in need. She spent much of her life caring for the elderly and handicapped, offering not only support, but true friendship, dignity, and compassion.
Jamie met her future husband, Mark Nevel, on a blind date arranged by their mothers — a match that quickly turned into a deep and lasting love. They married on June 19, 2004, and built a beautiful life together filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering support. She was the proud mother of her son, Eric Show, and a dedicated stepmother to Ethan Nevel. She adored both of her boys and was immensely proud of the young men they’ve become. Her heart grew even fuller with the arrival of her first grandchild, Willow James Show, born to Eric and his partner, Bridget Brison, on July 7 — a moment of pure joy and pride.
Jamie had a deep and abiding love for animals of all kinds. Her home was shared with her beloved dogs, cat, and even her chickens — all of whom she considered part of the family. Whether she was out caring for her own animals or bonding instantly with someone else’s, Jamie’s connection to animals reflected her gentle, nurturing soul.
Those who knew Jamie will remember not only her quick wit, contagious laugh, and the way she could light up any room — but also her unmistakable spunk and a stubborn streak that made her fiercely loyal and refreshingly real. Jamie was bold, determined, and unafraid to speak her mind — qualities that, combined with her big heart, made her a true force of nature. Her strength and sass were every bit as defining as her kindness and compassion, and all who knew her loved her for it.
Jamie is survived by her husband, Mark Nevel; her son, Eric Show, and his partner, Bridget Brison; her stepson, Ethan Nevel; her granddaughter, Willow James Show; her father, James Ahrens, and his partner, Deb Letke; her sister, Ashley (Ahrens) Chase, and her husband, Michael; as well as many extended family members and close friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rhonda Ahrens; her paternal grandparents, William and Opal Ahrens; and her maternal grandparents, Emmett and Opal Blauser.
A celebration of Jamie’s life will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, July 30 at the Rockland United Methodist Church, 4357 Kennerdell Rd., Kennerdell, with the Rev. Dennis Barger, pastor of Scrubgrass Stone Church and long time family friend, Rev. Dennis Barger, officiating. The family kindly requests donations be made to the Venango County Humane Society, 286 S. Main St., Seneca, PA 16346, in honor of Jamie’s lifelong love for animals.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hile Funeral Home Inc., Emlenton. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.hilefh.com.
