John Clayton Allen, 84, of Parker, passed away after a period of declining health on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at the VA Hospital in Oakland.
He was born in Greenville on February 25, 1942. He was the son of the late George Burton and Alice Ruth Stallsmith Allen.
After graduating from Chorcrantan High School, John joined the US Army, serving in the Korean/Vietnam era with the 313th ASA Battalion. He later worked as an engineer for the former C&K coal company for many years. He later worked a variety of jobs, including cooking at Abraxas Academy, performing maintenance at several campgrounds, and serving with the US Forrest Service in Marianville with the ranger district.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and attending gun raffles. He was an avid reader and enjoyed reading and reciting poetry. He also enjoyed driving around with his family. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite.
He is survived by his children: Shannon (Art) Miller of Parker; George (Jeanie) Allen of Dempseytown; Christopher (Jacinta) Allen of Conneaut Lake; Meliss Chirsto - Burk (James Burk) of Emlenton. His grandchildren: Jocelyn, Erica, Fawn, Tyler, Garett, Selina, Karisa, Chayanne, Colt, and Caleb. Great-grandchildren: Riley, David, Vanessa, Ben, and Gabby. Siblings: Ruth, Patsy, Scott, Alyson “Pete”. His ex-wife, Norma Allen, with whom he maintained a great friendship.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in by his brothers, Leonard and Donald “Blake” Allen.
Friends were received on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Buzard Funeral Home in Parker (201 S. Wayne Ave.) from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Again from 1-2 pm on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Military Honors were held at 2 pm, followed by the funeral service at the funeral home. The interment followed at Concord Cemetery (Parker).
