June L. Herold


June L. Herold, 96, of West Sunbury, went home to be with the Lord late Thursday evening, May 26, 2022 at the home of her daughter.

June was born in Chicora, Pa., on October 16, 1925. She was the first of ten children born to the late Victor C. and Sara McGarvey Fleeger.

She was a 1943 graduate of Fairview Twp. Karns City High School. She was a homemaker and had been employed for many years in the cafeteria at Moniteau High School. June attended the Ridgeville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading the Bible, and in her earlier years, singing. June loved her family and truly cherished time spent at family gatherings, especially those on “The Hill” at the family farm near Chicora where she was raised.

June was married at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Butler to Lawrence E. “Sonny” Herold on Oct. 16, 1943. Sonny preceded her in death on September 14, 2014.

Surviving are two daughters, Vicky J. Link and her husband, Gary A., of Canton, Ohio, and Trudy Snodgrass and her husband, Mark, of West Sunbury; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; three brothers, James Fleeger and his wife, Patricia, Larry Fleeger and his wife, Jo Ann, and Carl Fleeger and his wife, Val Jean, all of Chicora; two sisters, Shirley Heeter of Prospect and Marilyn Bricker of Karns City; two sisters-in-law, Glenda Fleeger of Chicora and Sally Herold, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, June was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Ruth A. and Kenneth Armstrong; two brothers, C. Robert “Bob” Fleeger and Thomas R. “Dick” Fleeger; two sisters, Kay Huff Dunn and Sally Hefner, and a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from Noon-2 p.m. Tuesday where a funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dennis Krajacic, officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Burial Estates.
