Born June 9, 1935, in West Freedom, Clarion County, Pennsylvania, Karl Eldon Elliott, Sr., went to be home with his Lord and Savior on May 5, 2026.
He passed peacefully in his sleep after living with dementia for many years.
Karl was married for over 58 years to his loving wife, Patricia “Kandi” Ann Elliott. They built a life rooted in a strong faith, community, and service to others.
He is survived by a large and loving family of five children, 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. His children are: Kim (Vernon) Weckbacher of McAllen, TX with four children and six grandchildren; Kelley (Frank) Peterson of Woodlawn, TN with seven children, fifteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; Karl “Kayo” Jr. (Jill) Elliott of Monroe, GA with three children; Kari (Damon) Amato of Mint Hill, NC with three children; and Kora (Jennifer) Holley of Ooltewah, TN. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was born to Cora Belle Jordan Elliott and George Carl Elliott, both deceased. His brother, David “Herb” Clair Elliott, also preceded him in death.
His surviving siblings are: Gayle (Peggy) Elliott of West Freedom, PA; Barb Callander of West Freedom, PA; and Rodney (Kim) Elliott of Colorado Springs, CO.
A Life of Faith and Service
Specialist Fourth Class (SPC4) Karl E. Elliott served in the Army with the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, KY, from 1958 through 1960. He earned his Parachutist Badge, served as a Field Artilleryman, and a Field Communications Specialist. He earned the Good Conduct Medal for honorable service during his entire enlistment. He was honorably discharged in February 1960.
Karl was a faithful member of his church. He was blessed to serve in many capacities as teacher, janitor, youth pastor, bus pastor, and whatever else he felt led to do. Karl and Kandi served for many years as house parents in Children’s Homes in South Carolina and Texas. His love for the Lord was shown throughout his lifetime in daily Bible reading, praying for others, and charitable deeds.
A man of varied talents and interests, Karl was a man who liked to work with his hands and keep busy. He was a skilled welder, handyman, painter, carpenter, journal writer, and best peanut butter fudge maker.
He had many varied interests in sports, both playing and watching. He memorized many passages of poetry and Scripture. He was also an avid listener of the radio, especially “Paul Harvey”.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Journey of Faith, 5787 Doc Walker Rd., Parker, PA 16049.
