Kimberly “Kim” Lorts


Kimberly “Kim” Lorts, 66, of St. George, Utah, formerly of Emlenton, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022, following an extended battle with Alzheimer's.

Kim was born in Oil City on October 13, 1955. She was the daughter of the late John E. Hughes and Ruth M. Murray Hughes McElroy.

Kim was a 1973 graduate of Allegheny Clarion Valley High School. After high school, Kim enlisted in the United States Air Force. She honorably served from 1979 to 1982 and was stationed in England.

Kimberly was employed by TriMet Transit Authority in Oregon. She retired as the Administrative Assistant to the Executive Director following more than 20 years of service.

Kim was an avid bicyclist having biked through many European countries including France, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria. She and her husband biked many of the same routes taken during the Tour de France. She also enjoyed hiking with her husband and group of friends through Utah and Oregon.

Kimberly is survived by her husband, Buck Lorts, whom she married in Portland, Oregon on July 24, 1993. Also, surviving is her daughter Jennifer Hope Rose of Lutz, Fl; her sister Pamela Barlett and her husband Allen, of Bruin; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and cousins.

A memorial service in Emlenton will be announced at a later date.
