Lorraine Bernice Kurtz, 89, of Emlenton, formerly of Lamartine, went to be with the Lord early Sunday morning, September 6, 2026 at Clarion Care Center.

Lorraine was born at home in Pilgraham, Salem Twp., Clarion Co., on June 5, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Walter William Sr. and Wilma Marcella Hartman Kurtz.

She was a life member of the Salem Reformed Church of Lamartine and as a youth attended school in Salem.

In her earlier years, she had been employed at the Carriage Inn in Knox and in private home housekeeping and childcare. She enjoyed riding horses and collecting horse memorabilia. Lorraine also enjoyed embroidery, drawing and painting. Lorraine resided in Clarion for a number of years and attended the First Baptist Church. After moving to Emlenton, Lorraine looked forward to attending the Scrubgrass Senior Center, exercising, playing Bingo, and attending the center's dinners and lunches.

She is survived by two sisters, Yvonne Monesa “Bonnie” Hetzler of Emlenton, and Nancy Lee Lewis and her husband, Paul, of Pilgrimham, as well as a number of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Walter William Jr. and Mary Kurtz and a brother-in-law, Robert Hetzler.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton, from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday. A funeral service will follow from the funeral home at 6 p.m. with Rev. Wendy Hazlett, pastor of the Salem Reformed Church of Lamartine, officiating. Interment will be in the Salem Reformed Church Cemetery.
