Nancy A. Stroup, 90, of Chicora, passed away Monday evening, May 19, 2025, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, while surrounded by her loving family.
Nancy was born in Pittsburgh on February 19, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Robert S. and Hazel V. Russell Deary. She was a 1954 graduate of Harrisville High School. In her earlier years, she had been employed as a secretary with Heckett Engineering. Nancy was a dedicated and loving homemaker and was a longtime active member of the Chicora United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School and was a member of the Cheerful Workers. She enjoyed reading, word searches, and watching Wheel of Fortune.
She is survived by her husband, Richard C. “Dick” Stroup, whom she married at the United Methodist Church in Butler on April 22, 1957. Also surviving is a daughter, Kimberly A. Munoz of Ashburn, VA; two grandchildren, Kara E. Sroka and her husband, Michael, of Valencia and Sarah K. Munoz and her companion, Steve Samson, of Ashburn, VA; seven great-grandchildren, Chloe, Jackson, McKenzie, Owen, Austin, Tatum, and Isaac; a sister-in-law, Dixie Reimold, as well as two nieces, one nephew, and several cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Christopher V. Stroup, a granddaughter, Lindsay Stroup, and two sisters, Nellie Knight and Roberta Crawford.
The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice and the personal care staff at Concordia Lutheran in Cabot for their kindness and compassion.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd. Chicora from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Thursday. A funeral service will be held at the Chicora United Methodist Church 203 Central Ave. Chicora at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2025, with the Rev. Beverly Roscoe, church pastor, officiating, assisted by former church pastors Jim Lewis and Glenn Kohlhepp. The interment will be in Hillview Cemetery in the Village of Kepples Corners.
Family and friends are invited to lunch at the Chicora Fire Department Social Hall, 202 W. Slippery Rock St. following the service.
