Nora A. Eyth

Nora A. Eyth, 95, of Chicora, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Quality Life Services - Chicora.

Nora, the former Nora Adams, was born March 31, 1931, in Kaylor, to the late Ralph and Josephine Adams. She was preceded in death by 13 siblings.

She was fondly known as “Grandma Nonie” by family & friends.

Nora was a woman of great faith and prayer. She loved and served the community and the Lord Jesus for over 60 years. She was the chaplain at the Arbors Apartments for many years. When she prayed . . . heaven moved.

Some of her favorite scriptures were:

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9-10

“Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” Mark 11:24

“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” Jeremiah 33:3

“The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” Isaiah 40:8

Over her long life, she was employed at the Karns City School District, Chicora Medical Center, Winn-Dixie Bakery, Sam’s Club in Waco, Texas, and The Center for Community Resources in Butler. She also served as a foster grandmother at the YMCA in Butler and as a greeter at the Butler City Building, and worked until she was 84 years old.

Nora was an excellent cook and enjoyed collecting recipes. Some of her specialties were lasagna and garlic bread, homemade rolls, cream puffs, Boston cream pie, and lemon meringue pie.

She loved playing the guitar and singing, and enjoyed crocheting and making afghans and doilies for her children, grandchildren, other relatives, and friends. She enjoyed putting 1000-piece puzzles together and was an excellent domino player.

Nora had a humble servant’s heart and would help anyone in need. She cooked and fed many people throughout her years. She would give away her last dollar.

She is survived by four children whom she dearly loved and prayed for: Shirley Champion and her husband Gordon of Louisville, Kentucky, Joseph Eyth and his wife Sherrie of Waco, Texas, Mary Celestin of Butler, and John Eyth and his wife Antionette of Chicora.

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, whom she dearly loved and prayed for.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 2-5 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026.  A funeral service will follow from the funeral home at 5 p.m. with Nora’s children officiating. Interment will be held on Saturday.

Memorial contributions in Nora Eyth’s name may be made to The Gideons International www.gideons.org. The Gideons place Bibles free of charge in many kinds of facilities worldwide.
