The summer reading program has been in full swing at the North Trails Public Library in West Sunbury.
This year’s theme “Color Our World” has been held on Tuesday’s over the past four weeks.
Kelly Terwilliger, who has spear headed the event has been busy creating various art and craft ideas for the youth in the area. The event was held on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm with the last one being held on August 5th.

The summer reading program is the library’s big incentive to motivate students to read. Kids K-2nd grade were encouraged to read 60 minutes a week and kids 3rd grade and up 120 minutes a week. If the kids attended at least three of the four programs they were invited to a Glow Painting Party!
The closing program which was just held this past week featured a program called “Mad Science” Fire and Ice. Children were dazzled and entertained as they learned about chemical reactions, air pressure and the state of matter.

Around twenty-five kids per week participated in programs. Some of the art activities that the kids enjoyed included: Hanging Yarn Art, Dot Art, Messy Art Night, Trolly Art, Color Run, a Glow Party and Mad Science.
The program also gave the chance for area teens to help mentor and obtain community service hours.
