Sweetheart and I like to watch Forensic Files on television on weeknights.
We like to see the elaborate methods that criminologists use to find evidence and relate it to a suspect. It is marvelous how scientists have come up with the substances, machines, and tests that are used to analyze the evidence once it is procured.
But, most of all, we like to see the police find the perpetrator and bring him or her to justice. And we are usually amazed at the motive behind the crime--especially the murders.
In a majority of the cases, one spouse or the other inflicts death on the other. I can’t believe a woman would be evil enough to make her husband suffer the end of the body God created for him. In some cases, the suffering is long and painful. Or how could a husband be so disgusted with his wife that he would subject her to harsh and brutal blows that cause her to expire?
Sweetheart says they do such things for the insurance money, and, in most cases, he is right. One spouse takes out a large insurance policy on the other and, within a short period of time, causes that person’s demise.
How greedy some people are! Why can’t they be satisfied to live with the person they profess to love, using the money they have available? No amount of money can take the place of what they lose.
For instance, a person cannot get hugs and kisses from money and the things it will buy. Money cannot help you make decisions--important or trivial--like a spouse can, when you’re in a quandary. A spouse is a good person to pick you up when you fall or take you to the emergency room when you’re really sick.
Another thing you will lose is your freedom. Law enforcement has such good methods of finding a suspect that a person will, in all probability, be going to prison for life.
Through my years of religious education, I learned about the six deadly sins. Greed is one of them. Actually, it appeared to me that they were precursors to deadly sins.
Anyway, it can sure get a person into a mess of trouble. No precursors about it.
