Rebecca Pennington turned in a stellar performance  at the 130th running of the Boston Marathon.

Rebecca Pennington, 26, of Bruin, PA has been running most of her life and with much success.

Pennington enjoyed a stellar career at Karns City High School and Chatham University, leaving behind a legacy at both schools.

On Monday, April 20, 2026 on Patriots Day, Pennington took her skill set to the highest level, the Boston Marathon, a 26.2 mile race that features world class runners from all over the globe.

Just qualifying for the Boston Marathon is no easy task. Only a small percentage of runners qualify for the race. Only about 10% U.S. Marathoners meet the standard. Simply meeting the standard does not guarantee entry. (Nearly 9,000 applicants were rejected for the 2026 race despite meeting the official standard).

Pennington not only finished the race in stellar fashion by finishing in the top 12% overall and in the top 1.5% among the women, she showed she belongs in a class with the world’s elite runners. Pennington finished with a time of 2:52:50. Her average per minute/ mile was an incredible 6:36.

Congratulations Rebecca and good luck on your future Boston Marathon runs.

Rebecca is the daughter of Robert and Beth Pennington of Bruin, PA.
