Raymond W. “Ray” Moore, 91, of Fairmont Rd., Chicora, went to be with the Lord and to be reunited with his wife on Friday evening, February 20, 2026 at Parker Personal Care following a brief illness.

Born in Chicora on September 8, 1934, he was the son of the late Harold G. and Hazel I. Wilson Moore of Chicora.

Mr. Moore graduated from Moniteau High School in 1952 and served in the Army Reserves following graduation.

He married his soulmate, Vonda L. Walker Moore, on October 7, 1955, at the Karns City United Methodist Church. A devoted member of the congregation, Raymond faithfully served in many roles and stepped in as a lay minister when needed. He was a member of The Argyle Masonic Lodge # 540 F&AM in Chicora. He was employed by Armco Steel in Butler for more than 30 years and retired from the Melt Shop in 1997.

Ray found great joy in the simple things in life. He loved his daily walks in nature, taking in the sights and sounds around him, and was happiest when working outdoors, feeding and watching the birds, or just washing his truck. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. He rarely missed a sporting event or school activity—rain or shine, he and Vonda were always there, cheering with pride.

Surviving are his sisters, Harriet Edwards and Susan Moore, both of Chicora; his son, Jeffrey R. Moore, and his wife, Lisa, of Chicora; three grandchildren, Zachary R. Moore of Pittsburgh, Brooke L. M. Salerno and her husband, Luke, and Alexis R. Moore, all of Chicora; and his great-grandson, Dawson M. R. Salerno. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Sandra F. Rodgers of Bruin and Edith Beikert Moore Bullions of Virginia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, William “Bill” Moore, and his son, Roger L. Moore, and Roger’s wife, Judith Moore, and a brother-in-law, Thomas Rodgers.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 2–4 and 6–8 p.m. Tuesday. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bev Roscoe, pastor of the Karns City United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment for immediate family will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Moore’s name may be made to the Karns City United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 89, Karns City, PA 16041.
