Ronald E. Stitt, 91, of Chicora, peacefully died at his home, on Saturday, March 29, 2025.
Born July 2, 1933, in Ford City, he was the son of Albert and Hazel (Mechling) Stitt.
On August 24, 1957, Ron married Madeline E. (Lehner) Stitt. She preceded him in death in 2018.
A US Army veteran, Ron served as a Private First Class during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge, Ron worked for PPG and Braeburn Steel and later Witco from where he retired.
A member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Ron was on the cemetery mowing crew and volunteered his time at the Lenten fish dinners.
Ron was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing the books he read with others. An outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, and tending to his yard. He also enjoyed hunting trips to Canada.
Ron will forever be remembered for his quick wit and smile on his face. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be truly missed.
He is survived by one daughter, Amy (husband, Michael) Zanot of Butler, and one son, Daniel (companion, Diane DeBacco) Stitt of Chicora. Two grandchildren, Michael (Danielle) Stitt of Chicora, Hilliary Stitt of Chicora, and three great-grandsons, Liam, Jax, and Gabe Stitt.
He is also survived by one sister, Carol (husband, Miles) Stewart of Ford City.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, daughter-in-law, Donna (Lerch) Stitt, one brother Ray Stitt, one sister, Linda Crownover, one grandson, Joshua, and one infant son, David.
Friends of Ronald E. Stitt will be received from 2:00-4:00, and 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. 707 Kellys Way, East Brady, PA 16028.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 4, 2025, at St. Patrick Church with Rev. Arnel Tadeo officiating.
Military Honors and Burial will follow in St. Eusebius Cemetery.
The Stitt family suggests that memorials may be made in Ron’s name to Karns City Regional Ambulance 110 Jamison Street, Petrolia, PA 16050
