Swartfager Awarded a $1,000 Scholarship

Hannah Swartfager is the winner of the 2024-25 Hannah Fox Scholarship. The scholarship was awarded to Hannah by the Garden Club of Clarion County.
Hannah has attended keystone Jr-Sr High School and lived in Clarion County her whole life. While at Keystone, Hannah has been in Girl Scouts, KYEA , NHS, Varsity Cheerleading, Marching Band, Concert Band, concert Choir, Fishing Club, Art Club and many other events and activities.
She is involved in her church and plans to attend Slippery Rock University this fall majoring in Park and Resource Management and minoring in Philanthropy. She chose this path because of her love of people and the outdoors.
The Garden Club of Clarion County held a meeting on May 13, 2025, hosted by Sligo members at Evermoore’s in New Bethlehem. President Lee Ann Ishman opened the meeting; twenty-nine members were present.
The business meeting commenced after lunch. The committee reports are as follows: Civic Development: clean-up and planting of the Riverhill, the Blue Star Memorial marker in Clarion will be on May 22nd, with rain date May 23rd. Smokey Bear/Woodsy Owl - Two student entries won the state competition. Special Events: The club participated in the Marianne Estates yearly yard sale. An annual plant auction was conducted following the meeting.
