The Boys & Girls Club Along Allegheny to Offer Arts & Bots Program


Get Out and Learn! Introductory course being offered. If you enjoy science and learning this is for you!

The Boys and Girls Club Along The Allegheny located in the Crawford Center in Emlenton will be holding an Arts and Bots program beginning on Monday, July 31st and on August 1st and 2nd beginning at 11 AM until 1 pm. Lorraine Shaffer of Kids Innovation Playground will be introducing the materials.

Students will be introduced to Birdbrain Technologies Hummingbird: Bit where they will program single and tri LED lights, positional and rotational serve motors, and sensors, using the block coding program Make Code. These components will be designed into various arts and crafts to automate and animate their projects.

Any kid between the ages of 10 and up are welcome to sign up for this class. Space is limited to the first eight kids, so sign up today. The class is free to anyone interested. You do not have to be a member of the Boys and Girls Club to participate. This is open to the public but space is limted. To reserve your spot call 724-867-3122.

Kids Innovation Playground was founded by Lorraine Shaffer who is a retired elementary school teacher. Kids Innovation Playground is a 501c3 non-profit organization with a mission to bridge the educational gap in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM) experiences for children Pre-K to 8th grade in rural western PA.
