To the editor: Get Registered – Vote

“All that is necessary for evil to prevail is for enough good men to do nothing.” —Edmund Burke

That could be true about many things, but it could especially be true about voting—or not voting. Sometimes, I think elections are decided by people who stayed home on election day., thinking theirs is only one vote and it doesn’t matter.

Or, perhaps, people think that a particular election isn’t important because the position of U.S. President is not on the ballot. Every position is important—from President of the United States to school board members.

For the past eight years or more, talk show pundits have been saying, “This is the most important election of the century.” It’s true.

It’s important because the people who get elected speak for and make decisions for all of us—even those who stay at home on Election Day.

Some people think the election is rigged. My husband and I have worked at the polling place for the last seven years and can vouch for the integrity of the process in our district.

Don’t stay at home. Don’t let evil prevail. Get registered. Vote.
