Venango County: Dog License Sales

Jeannie L. Ritchey, Acting Venango County Treasurer, has announced the 2023 Venango County DOG Licenses will become available on December 01, 2022.

State law requires that all dogs three months or older be licensed each year. An annual license is $8.50 and a lifetime license is $51.50. If the animal is spayed or neutered, the annual fee is $6.50 and lifetime is $31.50. Discounts are available to senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

Buying a dog license is essential to the safety of our pets; if a dog is lost or stolen a license provides information that can help reunite them with their owner.

All dogs must be licensed. Failure to license a dog is a summary offense and could result in a maximum fine of $300.00 for each unlicensed dog. The minimum fine is $50.00 plus court costs. Notices will be mailed from the Harrisburg Dept. of Agriculture Bureau of Dog Law at a $1 cost to the County as a reminder to purchase your dog license.

As always DOG LICENSES can be purchased at the County Treasurer’s Office, Oil City Agway, Humane Society, Jones Notary, Hilltop Hardware, and Seneca Veterinary.

Reminder for the 2023 year; there is the availability to purchase your dog license online using the Venango County website. There will be a $1.95 convenience fee charged by the provider of the service; if your purchase exceeds $78.00 a 2.49% fee will be charged. You may also download an application from the County website and include a check or money order payable to:
