Vera Mae Ralston Hamil passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, at Concordia of Cabot. She just celebrated her 88th birthday.
She was born on May 2, 1938, and was the daughter of the late Merle and Mary Farren Ralston.
Vera was married to Gary Hamil for 40 years before his passing in October 2003.
She enjoyed working at Beatty’s/Thompson’s Grocery store in Eau Claire for 40 years. Before her illness, she enjoyed shopping, traveling, and spending time with her sisters and her nieces, Darla Croyle and Pam Fisher.
She is survived by her sister, Joanne Foreback. Her nieces: Darla (Rick Harkcom) Croyle; Pam (Bill) Fisher; Deb (Phillip) Dallos, Myrna Hamil; Cindy (Boyd) Smith. Nephews: Bill (Valerie) Foreback; Allen (Pam) Zarnick; Jim (Kris) Zarnick; Larry Hamil.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Jean Stalker; Sara Zarnick; and Marilyn “Ginger” Zarnick. Her brother, Jack Ralston. Nephews Michael Patsy, and Jeff Foreback. Her Brothers in-law: Bill Foreback; Bill Zarnick; and Clarence “Buddy” Zarnick.
At Vera’s request, there was a private family visitation and funeral. Interment will take place at Eau Claire Cemetery.
