Don King


Don King, 94, passed into eternal life on September 5, 2022, after a short illness.

Don was the son of the late Albert and Fonda (Smith) King. He was born in East Brady and lived in Bradys Bend and East Brady his entire life.

Don was a 1947 graduate of East Brady High School. He married the former Margaret (Peggy) Rossman, and they celebrated 74 years together this year.

Don and Peg have three children: Donna Kay (Sonny) Early, Raymond Edward (Karen) King; and Kathy Jean (Bob) Thompson. Six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren complete his family.

After high school, Don was employed by the Western Allegheny Railroad. Next, he worked for the Rexhide Corporation, and finally, he worked at Penreco until his retirement in 1991. Don enjoyed woodworking, maintaining his lawn and home, and sitting on the porch waving to all the passersby.

Don was a member of Trinity Community Church where he served on numerous committees. After his retirement, he and Peggy helped with vacation bible school and other church activities.

Don was predeceased by four brothers (William, Ralph, Robert, and Carl) and a sister (Dorothy Hillwig Mortimer.) His brother Richard (Ressie) survives.

Don is also survived by his grandchildren, Jill (Summerville) Forshey, Craig Summerville, Jason Thompson, Melissa Mason, and twins Lindsay (King) Kloepping and Jordan (Caitlin) King and his great-grandchildren, Liam, Nate, and Sam Heaton, Bailey Summerville, Jada, Natalie, and Julia Mason, Noah and Lia Kleopping, and Maris and Stellan King.

A memorial service for Don King will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Trinity Reformed Church, Route 68, Brady’s Bend with Rev. Pete Sapp officiating. Attendees are invited to stay following the service for a social time and lunch.

In lieu of flowers, the King family requests that memorials be made to the Trinity Church, 887 State Route 68, East Brady, PA 16028
