June Maxine Landers, 89, a lifelong resident of St. Petersburg, Clarion County, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior while surrounded by her loving family Monday, June 29, 2026 at her daughter’s home, following a brief illness.

Maxine was born on June 6, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Wilma Smith Texter.

She was a graduate of St. Petersburg School where she played clarinet and violin in the school orchestra.

On November 19, 1955, she was married to Sylvan John Landers. Mr. Landers preceded her in death in 1964.

Maxine was first and foremost a loving, selfless, dedicated mother, grandma, great grandma, sister, aunt and friend. She was the precious mother of, and survived by, her five children: John (Cindy), Julia, Sylvan (Karen), Tom (Karen) and Leonore; her cherished grandchildren: Mike, Nicole, Heather, Rachel, Leah, Eddie, Kaitlyn, Thomas II, Megan, Dereck, and Kassi. She was delighted to be great grandma to: Ashton, Sydney, Carmine, Sabine, Evie, Bo, Carson, Whitney, Max, Haylee, Thomas III, Kenny, Austin, Peyton, Kendrick, Keegan, Kaleb, Kiser, Kwynn, and Klaire. Maxine greatly enjoyed attending all of their many activities and sporting events.

She is additionally survived by her sister Linda Mattern, and was preceded in death by three brothers: Walter (Mariane), Stanley (Betty), and Don (Pat and Faye), and a sister: Patty; her brothers in law and sisters in law: Dick, Art, Fred, Sam, Benny, Joe, George, Josey, Joe, and Nancy; two sons in law: Scott Stewart and John Krainz, and her father and mother in law Samuel and Josephine Landers as well as several nieces and nephews.

Throughout life Maxine had an unwavering belief and hope in God. She attended the St. Petersburg Church of the Nazarene where she served the church as treasurer for 25 years, was a Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Leader, and children’s song leader. She had faithfully attended the Turkey City Church of God for the past 26 years. She was a member of the Clarion Weight Watchers where she served as secretary and fill in leader for more than 20 years. She was her daughter’s “right hand” in assisting her run her business. She proudly proclaimed one of her jobs was giving every turkey, bunny, and chick cookie their eyes, a mini chocolate chip, and was often employee of the month. Maxine enjoyed Yahtzee, reading, puzzles, word searches, the Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, playing the organ, bird watching, tending her flower gardens, rose bushes, baking and made the best chocolate chip cookies ever.

She resided in her home for over 68 years, her “oasis in the middle of the woods.” She was blessed to watch and observe many of God’s creatures in their natural habitat, scenes that many others only hear about, and never see. She had taken many vacations with her family. The trip of her lifetime was to Hawaii, basking in the sun on Waikiki beach.

Maxine has now taken her final trip, and will be reunited with her family and many friends. 1 Corinthians 2:9 says: “But as it is written, what no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God prepares for those who love him.”
