Linda Marie Palmer
It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of a truly extraordinary woman, Linda Marie Palmer, age 80, who left this world a far brighter place than she found it.
Born November 13, 1945, to Floyd and Laura Humphrey, she was a devoted wife and a legendary mother.
She passed away peacefully on September 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness.
She graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1963, where she won the Betty Crocker Homemaker of the Year award.
Linda attended Slippery Rock School of Business and served as a secretary for many years at Palmer Construction.
For 54 beautiful years, she was the wife and steadfast partner to her husband, Donald E. Palmer. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and a shared dedication to family. To her family, she was the ultimate anchor. As the mother of 16 children, her life was a masterclass in patience, organization, and unconditional love. She possessed a rare ability to make each of her children feel uniquely seen, deeply valued, and fiercely loved. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, always filled with the comforting aromas of home-cooked meals, the sound of laughter, the beauty of a close-knit family, and an open door that made so many of the neighborhood friends feel welcome and loved.
She was a woman who loved working with her hands and being creative. She was a wonderful cook, and many memories were made around her table enjoying the meals she prepared. Above all, she was simply a wonderful person. She possessed a gentle spirit and a profound grace that guided her through life’s triumphs and trials alike. Her kindness was instinctive, always putting the needs of others before her own.
Linda enjoyed the company of family and friends, reading, playing cards and games, cross-stitching, crafting, playing BINGO with her Parker Heights friends, and volunteering, when possible.
While her absence leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, her extended family, and the countless individuals who called her a second mom, her spirit lives on.
Linda is survived by her brother Robert Humphrey (Carol), children Cindy Ford (Bill), Richard Palmer (Tammy), Maria Clark (Terry), Laura Slaughen-houpt (Aaron), Russell Palmer (Jenny), Ronald Palmer (Jean), Donald Palmer Jr. (Nichole), Amy Palmer (John), Daniel Palmer (Erin), Angela Brown (Rob), Chris Palmer (Donna), Ashley Sherman (Eric), Jeff Palmer, Alan Palmer, and Alicia Palmer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Laura Humphrey, siblings and their spouses Lois Taylor and Jerry, Barbara Bonetti and Andy, Don Humphrey and Peg, Ed Humphrey, Ralph Humphrey and Mel, husband Donald Palmer, Step-son Gary Palmer, and infant son David Eric Palmer.
Friends will be received at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home in Parker from 11 - 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. The funeral will follow at the funeral home at 2 pm. The interment will be held in Perryville Cemetery.
