Matthew Justin Hunt, a dedicated husband, father, and son, of Emlenton, PA, formerly of Logan, UT, passed away at the age of 53 on Thursday morning, April 17, 2025, at the Butler Memorial Hospital following a difficult battle with cancer.

He was born on October 16, 1971, in Vallejo, CA; the son of the late James W. Hunt Sr. and Nina Swartzfager Hunt who survives and resides in Sligo.

Matt was an avid baseball lover and played for the USU Aggies and the Hyrum Hornets of the Northern Utah Baseball League. He worked for Autoliv for 15 years and Thermo Fisher for 13 years, both from Utah. Matt then moved to Pennsylvania and worked at the Clarion County Tax Assessment Office and most recently for Guardian Protection Tech-Support. He enjoyed playing fantasy baseball and football and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. Matt even coached his son Aivon's basketball team for a period of time. He also loved playing his nightly video games with his sons.

Matt married the love of his life and best friend, Rebecca Ahlstrom-Hunt, on May 30, 2002, who survives. They were together for 27 life-filled years and their connection was built over time, through both joy and hardship. They had a bond forged in shared battles, quiet moments, and unspoken understanding. They had their own love language of glances, sarcasm, and layered humor. It wasn't always easy, but it was real and it was theirs. Through everything, the love between them ran deep: imperfect, enduring, and honest.

In addition to his mother and wife, Matt is survived by his sons, Jordan Ahlstrom and Aivon Ahlstrom both of Utah, who he shared a relationship with that was complex. It wasn't always easy, but it was always meaningful. There were challenges along the way, but through them, growth and strength emerged. He played a powerful role in shaping the men they have become: strong, capable, loyal, fiercely independent, and incredibly kind-hearted. Matt's influence, sacrifices, and even flaws helped forge their character. In time, both of them came to understand and appreciate the ways their father loved them, often quietly, sometimes imperfectly, but always deeply. He was proud of them and who they are, what they have overcome, and the lives they are building for themselves.

Matt is also survived by his daughter, Alexandria Hunt of Emlenton, who was the joy of his life. They shared a one-of-a-kind connection and bond woven with sharp wit, dry humor, and a mutual love for being sarcastic and slightly dark. Their laughter echoed in every room they shared, always playful and affectionate. Beneath the jokes was a deep and abiding love that never needed to be spoken to be known.

He is further survived by his brother, James Hunt, Jr., and his wife, Loy-Ann, of Sligo; 2 nephews, Bradford Hunt of Utah and Jarrett Hunt of Florida; and his niece, Megan Hunt of Utah. Matthew Justin Hunt will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Family and friends will be received from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Samuel Bungo presiding. The interment will take place at the Saint Eusebius Cemetery in East Brady, PA.
