Three women from the Boyers area decided to write a book about their town after attending several town reunions. The book was not meant to provide a history of Boyers even though there are many historical facts and dates. Mostly the book is about stories and memories from current and past residents.

The village of Boyers is located in Marion Township in Northern Butler County. The book begins with some history of the village and the Annandale Limestone Mine. It also included pictures and stories of local businesses, churches and schools.

After years of research, home visits, and compiles of photos the book titled “Memories of Boyers, Pennsylvania” by authors Antonetta Bell, Kathy Tinker, and Millie Weeter, was published by Staab Typographic in Emlenton, last year.

The book was a huge success so the authors decided to give back to the community where they lived. The Marion Township Volunteer Fire Company and the Moniteau Meals on Wheels each received a donation of $1,400.00 from profits received from the sale of the book.

Books are available for $20.00 at the Marion Township Office at 2275 West Sunbury Road in Boyers on Tuesdays. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or by mail for $25.00 from Antonetta Bell, 261 Woodhawk Lane, Butler, PA 16001.
