Expanded Greenberg Cadillac Museum in Brookville open Select Weekends
Inside preview of the Cadillac Museum in Brookville.
Remember when automobiles focused on style and didn’t all look like each other? When cars created genuine excitement and envy? When new models were introduced each year with great fanfare and the public lined up to see the new shapes, colors and features. And the most anticipated models came from Cadillac - the top luxury brand and the leader in performance, elegance and innovation.
All of this is on view at the Greenberg Cadillac Museum (world’s largest) which is the private collection of Dr. and Mrs. Steven Greenberg of Brookville. They open the doors to their collection once a month in partnership with the Jefferson County Historical Society and local volunteers. (Please see schedule below.). The expanded campus of 4 buildings showcases over 80 meticulously restored Cadillacs and highlights the evolution of the automotive transportation from the early beginnings 120 years ago right to today.
While at the museum you may learn where the name Cadillac came from (hint It is French). How old is the brand, (hint the Museum has one of the very first models). Where the iconic Cadillac emblem comes from. Why Cadillac was the choice of presidents, generals, movie icons, titans of industry, and all those who appreciate the height of quality and style.
On the museum self-tour, you will walk through the many changes in body designs, colors, engine specs and the various interior passenger comfort configurations. See how Cadillac has led the way with the introduction of the first fully enclosed chassis, lavish body paint and chrome, the introduction of battery self-starters, the first V8 engines and V16 engines, automatic Syncro-Mesh transmissions, power steering, AM/FM Radios, safety glass, the appearance and disappearance of elaborate hood ornaments and tail fins, power seats with memory, thermostatic climate control, electric windows, sun roofs, seat warmers, theft deterrent systems, GPS “On Star” cellular systems, Lane-departure warnings all the way to today’s fully electric “EV” models with hands free “Super Cruise”.
